The Incas messengers could travel 250 miles in one day with running. Messengers helped the Inca empire rise and expand. They would send messages by memory and with a stick called a quipus that had strings in different lengths to help them remember the message also. For the messengers they had roads to get from place to place that added up to about 15,000 miles.
